Conscious Parenting With Ferne McCann
Supporting Ferne McCann on First Time Mum: A Journey into Conscious Parenting
In August, I was invited to Brentwood, Essex, to be featured on Ferne McCann’s reality show, First Time Mum. This popular show airs on ITVBE and has been running since the birth of Ferne’s daughter, Sunday, in November 2017.
First Time Mum follows Dancing on Ice star Ferne McCann as she navigates the challenges of single motherhood. I had the opportunity to visit Ferne’s home to help her manage Sunday’s tantrums and offer insights into conscious parenting techniques.
Although I hadn’t watched the show previously, I researched it before our meeting and found compilations of Sunday’s tantrums. It became clear that both Ferne and Sunday needed support and guidance. As a young mom balancing multiple responsibilities, Ferne is a busy and successful entrepreneur who faces the challenges of motherhood, especially as a single parent.
Sunday is almost four years old and is accustomed to having camera crews follow her and her mom around. They are currently filming the seventh season of First Time Mum, which is set to air at the end of this summer.
Ferne McCann on This Morning talking about Conscious Parenting
Ferne McCann’s daughter Sunday won over This Morning viewers on Monday when she joined her mum in a lively interview and climbed all over the iconic sofa.
‘Do you mind her shoes being on the This Morning sofa?’ laughed Ferne as her three-year-old meandered her way across the blue settee.
Viewers of the show were delighted by the toddler’s free spirit and gushed she was ‘so cute’ after the boisterous appearance.
Ferne was on the show to promote the new series of her ITVBe show First Time Mum and, in the spirit of the show, the single parents had brought her toddler along for the outing.
Ferne McCann and Daughter Sunday Shine on This Morning
‘She can see herself on the monitor,’ explained Ferne as Sunday jumped around in excitement while clutching a toy rabbit.
‘I’m so sorry! Like any other three-year-old’ added the reality star as her child jumped around with abandon.
But This Morning’s hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford didn’t seem to mind as they fawned over a drawing the toddler had sketched for them before coming to the studio.
Ferne shares Sunday with her incarcerated ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins, who is serving over 20 years in jail for an acid attack.
During the interview, Ferne revealed that she tried to use ‘conscious parenting’ with Sunday that ‘encourages you to sit with their tantrums and not suppress their feelings’.
And the method was clearly working as fans quickly took to Twitter to gush about the toddler’s energetic cameo.
‘Ferne’s daughter Sunday is so cute,’ wrote one fan alongside two love heart emojis.
‘Think Ferne should have bribed her daughter before going on the tele. Be good and ill get you a present after,’ quipped another.
‘Ferns daughter in the studio,’ joked a third viewer alongside a video of a man jumping around on a sofa with a disco effect added.
The mother-daughter appearance comes after Ferne admitted earlier this month that she still wants to find happily ever after following her unexpected split from Jack Padgett in June.

“This process is worth it. I thought of it as an investment in myself and my family’s future, and my goal was simply to be a better parent, and I just didn’t have the skills, and this process provides that. The time investment is worth it, because you really get to work on the process, you get to explore your inner workings, you learn new skills. I would say if you feel called to do this process, there is a reason for that and I do not think you will regret it.” – Izzy. Washington.
