What is Parent Coaching?

Parent coaching offers support and guidance from a trained professional who helps parents navigate the challenges and responsibilities of raising children. The process involves working with parents to identify their goals and values, develop effective parenting strategies, and improve communication and relationships with their children. Parent coaches also provide resources and tools to help parents tackle specific issues or concerns, such as behaviour management, discipline, and child development. The ultimate goal of parent coaching is to empower parents to become more confident, effective, and fulfilled in their roles

What is Parent Coaching? Understanding the Role of a Parenting Coach

A parenting coach doesn’t aim to fix you because they believe you’re not broken. Instead, they meet you where you are and help you tap into your inner resources to support yourself effectively.

Coaching differs significantly from therapy. If complex issues arise during sessions, your coach may guide you to explore alternative therapeutic support. Many parents find that therapy and parenting coaching work well together, addressing different needs.

Often, a parenting coach feels like a friend or the supportive parent you didn’t have. They take the time to understand you and your family situation while maintaining clear boundaries to ensure safety for both you and the coach.

Working with a parenting coach can sometimes trigger strong emotions. You might encounter questions you’ve never considered, bringing feelings to the surface. This process isn’t necessarily negative; it provides an opportunity to discuss your thoughts and feelings and receive support.

When you engage with a coach, you take responsibility for your development and growth. While a parenting coach offers new perspectives and helps you enhance your parenting skills, it’s up to you to apply what you learn in your family life.

Booking your first call with Happy Me Parenting

During the first initial call we will chat about all things parenting. What you are particularly struggling with and what outcome you hope to receive from coaching sessions to see if coaching is a fit for you.

Many parents often don’t have a safe space to talk about their parenting without receiving unsolicited advice or judgements from friends and family.

All coaching sessions are private, confidential and there is absolutely zero judgement regardless of what you share.

The aim with coaching sessions is to be able to help you understand your current parenting patterns, create life long change and have a more connective relationship with your child.

We can read all the books and listen to all the podcasts but often we need to be supported in our conscious parenting in order to be able to make the big shifts and changes in family life because chances are you’ve read all the books but you still struggle to make the changes you so desperately want to make.
